Let's Face it. Appliances Make Our Lives a Whole Lot Easier....Until They Break.
Dishwashers:
✔ Keep your drain and filter clean and clear. Don’t worry about rinsing off every dish before putting it into the dishwasher, but it’s a good idea to scrape off excess food. Rinse Aid and Salt:
✔ Using a rinse aid will result in cleaner, drier dishes. Hard water is hard on dishwashers, as lime scale will build up. Salt will protect your dishwasher from lime scale building up.

Stoves / Ovens:
✔ Clean regularly – three to four times per year. Remove the racks during self cleaning, as the intense heat can cause them to warp.
✔ To clean racks, let them soak for 10-20 minutes, then use kitchen sponges to scrub them.
✔ Remove spills and drips as soon as you safely can, as these can potentially smoke, or catch fire.
Do not use soaps or detergents on the inside of your oven.
✔ Don’t clean under oven knobs, or allow cleaner to drip behind them.
Don’t overload! This is a significant cause of broken washing machines, and premature failure.
Inspect your hoses once a month to ensure the connections are tight, no leaks or bulges in the hoses.
Use the proper detergent for your washer. If you have an energy efficient washer, it wants HE detergent, which is low-sudsing.
Unload the washer when it’s done to prevent mildew from building up inside of the washing machine.
Leave the door open when done to allow it to dry properly, and reduce foul smells and mildew.
Exterior cleaning – Keeping the exterior of your washer clean will help keep rust and corrosion from building up. It will also keep your clothes cleaner, if you set your clothes on top of the washer.
✔ Clean your lint screen before each use. This allows your dryer to breath properly, resulting in quicker, drier loads.
✔ Vent cleaning – Regularly inspect the dryer vent for blockage. Using a toothbrush clean any buildup.
✔ Vent hose – While not fun to pull out dryers, obstructed vent hoses will also cause dryers to work harder, and be less effective. If you have sharp bends in your hose, for example, those bends are magnets for dust and lint. If you’re noticing more lint than usual in your laundry room, it’s likely your dryer vent hose has developed a crack, or is not fastened properly on both ends.
✔ If you have a long duct, you may want to have an appliance repair technician to have it professionally cleaned.
✔ Exterior cleaning – As with the washer, it’s a good idea to regularly wipe down the exterior of the dryer to prevent soap buildup and corrosion.
